Supreme Court hears PIL seeking directions for regulation of #CBSE Board exams through OSM (on-screen marking) evaluation
SG Tushar Mehta : we have prepared a note. But I feel it should be by way of affidavit. There is something in my mind. Let me speak to govt. Have it on Monday. There was a 1-man committee. There was a window opened for 1 week. Few thousand or few lakhs came and grievances were redressed. 1.68 lakh students. Their answer sheets were reevaluated
CJI : There should be a permanent grievance redressal mechanism
Counsel for petitioner : There are lot more students. Now some students have cleared entrance exams. But they haven't scored min. marks in CBSE exams. Their career at stake. Near about 3 lakh students have appeared for compartment exams
SG : Finding discrepancies, a specific decision of 1 week was taken. 1.68 lakh candidates exercised their right. Possibly they are seeking grace marks, that's not possible
J Bagchi : concern probably is on-screen mark glitches
Counsel: a week's time is very less. many students do not have access to internet
SG : we pointed out before HC also why 1 week. this is to be linked with other exams where these marks are to be taken into
CJI : except 1 week window, that window may be reopened
SG : That may not be possible. 1 week decision was a conscious decision. let me come back on Monday.
