Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha Lays Foundation Stone For New Durg Court Complex, Launches Digital Justice Initiatives
Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court Ramesh Sinha on Tuesday performed the Bhoomi Pujan and laid the foundation stone for the new Principal District and Sessions Court Building in Durg. The programme also saw the release of a book on community mediation and the launch of several digital judicial initiatives.
The event was attended by Justices P.P. Sahu, Naresh Kumar Chandravanshi, Ravindra Kumar Agrawal, Bibhu Dutt Guru and Amitendra Kishore Prasad, along with judicial officers, members of the Bar, representatives of the Legal Services Authority and administrative officials.
Welcoming the gathering, Principal District and Sessions Judge K. Vinod Kujur spoke about the need for the new court building and the importance of strengthening judicial infrastructure. The proposed building is expected to provide additional facilities for judicial officers, lawyers, court staff and litigants.
During the programme, Chief Justice Sinha released Sandhi Setu, a book prepared by the District Legal Services Authority, Durg, on community mediation. According to the organisers, the publication seeks to promote the resolution of disputes at the community level through dialogue, consensus and mediation, while documenting efforts aimed at fostering harmonious rural communities.
The programme also featured the launch of several digital initiatives developed by the Information Technology Team of the High Court of Chhattisgarh, including the Cashless Fine Payment Facility, the AFR Mobile Application (Android) and the Court Fee Ticket Generation System. A video presentation on these initiatives was also screened.
In his address, Chief Justice Sinha spoke about the importance of judicial infrastructure, technological innovation and a citizen-centric justice delivery system. Referring to the construction of the new court building, he said judicial institutions should be strengthened in accordance with future requirements.
He also referred to digital justice delivery and community mediation initiatives, stating that efforts should be made to ensure justice remains accessible, transparent and convenient for citizens.
The Chief Justice was welcomed by the District Bar Association, Durg. Members of the State Bar Council elected from Durg district also felicitated him during the programme.
The event was attended by judicial officers, court employees, members of the Bar, representatives associated with the Legal Services Authority, Para Legal Volunteers, administrative officers and members of the media.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Suman Ekka, Principal Judge, Family Court, Durg.
During the programme, the foundation stone for the new court building was laid, Sandhi Setu was released, and digital initiatives including the Cashless Fine Payment Facility, AFR Mobile Application and Court Fee Ticket Generation System were launched.
