Bombay High Court has taken suo motu cognisance of the "acute water shortage" being faced by more than 100 girls at University of Mumbai's Madam Cama Girl's Hostel situated in the posh Churchgate area of the city.

While observing that the issue is very serious, the judges said they will hear the matter on September 1.
