The Gujarat High Court has issued a circular, effective from 1st September, 2023, modifying the methodology for ensuring the next listing date in all pending cases.
This circular comes as a continuation of earlier notifications under Judicial Department No.RJ/17/2023 and IT Cell No.ITC/171/2023, with the Chief Justice making the following adjustments to the methodology dated 23.08.2023:
(i) Certain categories of admitted matters (Final Hearing matters) up to 10 years old are exempted from the allocation of System Generated Next Listing Date (SGNLD) until further notice. These categories include First Appeals, Second Appeals, Criminal Appeals, and Civil Revision Applications.
(ii) The terminology within the methodology has been refined as follows:
(a) "Critically old matters" now encompasses "Critically old matters of any category"
(b) "Old matters" now refers to old matters excluding admitted matters (Final Hearing matters) such as First Appeals, Second Appeals, Criminal Appeals, and Civil Revision Applications.
