The Central Government has recently notified permanent appointments for three additional judges of Madras High Court.
The additional judges appointed as permanent judges are: Justice R. Poornima, Justice M. Jothiraman and Dr. Justice Augustine Devadoss Maria Clete.
The notification issued by the Ministry of Law & Justice, Department of Justice dated April 10 states:
"In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint (i) Ms. Justice R. Poornima, (ii) Shri Justice M. Jothiraman and (iii) Dr. Justice Augustine Devadoss Maria Clete, Additional Judges of Madras High Court as Permanent Judges of the Madras High Court with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices".
Notably the Central Government had in 2024 notified the appointments of the appointees who were judicial officers at the time, as Judges of the Madras High Court.
