The Rajasthan High Court has passed a standing order on June 10 directing that from now onwards, the number of adjournments taken in a particular matter shall be separately reflected in the cause list along with the case code.
The Standing Order No. 06/S.O/2026, mentioned that such count of adjournments shall be maintained through a software/application developed for this purpose, such that it is available under each heads of 'appellants/petitioner/applicant' or 'respondent' or 'jointly'.
The order clarified that the cases that fell under the category of 'not reach' shall not be considered for the purpose of counting the number of adjournments.
As mentioned in the order, this came in the background of the directions issued by the division bench of Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma and Justice Chandra Shekhar Sharma in the case, D.B. Special Appeal Writ No. 1390/2018 (OmPrakash v the State of Rajasthan).
The Court directed the Registry to mention the number of adjournments already taken in a particular case by the appellant/petitioner/applicant. It was stated that the said mention shall be reflected in the cause list above the case code.
