    A day after the Bombay High Court relaxed Aryan Shah Rukh Khan's bail condition of weekly visits to the Narcotics Control Bureau's office in Mumbai, his co-accused - Aachit Kumar - has sought the same relief from the trial court on similar grounds.

    Special NDPS Court VV Patil sought the NCB's response to Kumar's application filed under section 439(1)(b) of the CrPC by January 4, 2022.
    A student studying in London, Kumar was stuck in Mumbai due to the lockdown. He was arrested on October 6, after Khan allegedly named him during investigations and 2.6gms of contraband was recovered from his house. NCB accused him of being a part of the "ganja trafficking network".
    The special court granted bail to Kumar on October 30.
    In its detailed order, the court observed that the NCB had failed to prima facie show that Kumar was even dealing in drugs. It discarded the WhatsApp chats between him and Khan in the absence of corroboration.
    One of the bail conditions imposed on Kumar was to attend the NCB Mumbai office between 1-4 pm every Monday.
    Kumar says that he has attended the agency's office every Monday since the order. However, citing the transfer of investigation in the Cruise Ship Drug Case to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of NCB Delhi, Kumar said that his attendance at NCB's Mumbai office may not be required.
    Kumar has further said he doesn't have any reservations in travelling to Delhi to join the SIT's investigation, as and when he is called. He has however sought to be given an advance notice.
    He was booked under sections 8(c) read with 20(b)(ii)(A) (possession of small quantities of drug), 27a (consumption), 28 (attempt to commit offence) and 29 (conspiracy) of the NDPS Act.
