Samajwadi Party leader and former Uttar Pradesh minister Azam Khan has been found guilty in a 2019 Hate Speech case by a Rampur Court. Khan had made provocative remarks against Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath and the then DM of Rampur, Aunjaneya K. Singh during the Lok Sabha Elections 2019.

He has been convicted under under Sections 153a (promoting enmity between two groups), 505 (statement conducing to public mischief) of IPC and section 125 of the Representation of People Act 1951. An FIR was lodged against him after the returning officer had taken took cognizance of the matter after a complaint was made to him in this regard.

Khan is involved in over 85 Cases, he was released earlier this year after being granted interim bail by the Supreme Court in a forgery case.
