In the wake of COVID19 pandemic, the Delhi High Court and the subordinate courts have suspended their functioning till April 4.

A notification in this regard issued by the HC on Monday clarified that the period of suspension will be treated as closure of courts for the purpose of Section 4 of the Limitation Act. Limitation will not run for court proceedings from March 23 till April 4.

Urgent matters before the High Court could be mentioned before the Registrar concerned over a phone call. If allowed, the matter will be heard by the Judges through video conferencing.

The respective District & Sessions Judges have been directed to prepare a special roster of Judicial Officers to deal with remand in fresh matters.

For fresh matters of extreme urgency, the one Administrative Officer (Judicial) will be nominated in each District who can be contacted telephonically by the advocates.

All courtrooms and other parts of the court complex, including chamber blocks, as well as the subordinate court complexes, shall be remain closed except those which are required to be opened in connection with the directions issued by the Court.

Delhi Judicial Academy's training programmes are also stand suspended till April 4.
