Delhi District Courts To Hear 'Urgent Cases' Only Through Virtual Mode Due To Alarming Rise In Covid 19 Cases

The Delhi District Courts will only take up "urgent cases" in view of the "alarming rise in covid 19 cases" in the National capital.
The office order issued on Monday by the Registrar General of the Delhi High Court however stated that all other matters listed before such District Courts will be adjourned 'en bloc' information of which will be uploaded on this regard on the websites of the respective District Courts.
The office order reads thus:
"In view of the alarming rise in the Covid-19 cases in the National Capital Territory of Delhi, in continuation of this Court's Office Order No.256/RG/DHC/2021 dated 08.04.2021, it is ordered that all the judicial officers of the District Courts in Delhi shall take up only urgent cases of their respective Courts, through videoconferencing mode. It is further ordered that all other matters listed before Delhi District Courts be adjourned en bloc by respective courts and information in this regard be uploaded on the website(s) of Delhi District Courts."
According to a similar office order issued by the High Court yesterday, it was directed that it shall take up "extremely urgent matters" filed this year only with effect from 19th April 2021.
Furthermore, the order also stated that any other pending routine/non-urgent matters and the matters filed/listed before the High Court between 22.3.2020 and 31.12.2020 shall not be taken up and such matters shall be adjourned "en bloc" as per the dates already notified.
The High Court vide order dated 8th April 2021 ordered that the High Court and all district courts in the capital will shift to the virtual mode of hearings till Apr 23.
