The Madras High Court on Tuesday directed the parents of a school girl, who died by suicide in Kallakurichi in July, to hand over her mobile phone to the CB-CID and cooperate with the investigation.
The girl had died on private school premises after alleged mistreatment by the teachers. This was followed by a violent protest in the area. Citing foul play her parents had earlier sought for a CB-CID inquiry to unearth the truth about her death.
The court on July 18 ordered that whenever an incident of unnatural death of a student occurs at an educational institution, the investigation has to be conducted by the CB-CID. It had also said the postmortem should be conducted by a team of three doctors in such cases.
