Commenting that the judges read about the affidavits of the Ministry in the press before they are filed in the Court, the Chief Justice of India on Monday asked the Additional Solicitor General to ensure that the affidavit is filed first in the Court before circulation to the media.
CJI NV Ramana said that his PRO shows the reports about the affidavits in the morning papers though they are yet to be filed in Court.
Addressing ASG KM Nataraj, the CJI said "Please circulate the affidavit. We read affidavits in media only. Today I received their affidavit in court but every morning my PRO has shown me the affidavit( in media)".
"It will not happen from the Union's side", the ASG assured the Bench.
A Bench comprising CJI NV Ramana, Justice Krishna Murari and Justice Hima Kohli was considering a batch of applications seeking lifting of iron ore export.
The Bench asked the Ministry of Steel to clarify if sufficient iron ore is available in the domestic market and if export of the mined material should be permitted.
