    Justice D. Y. Chandrachud on Wednesday told the bar that every morning, he personally peruses all emails to secure a listing which has been received by the court-master from AORs until the previous evening, and "99 out of 100 times", the judge ensures the matters are listed expeditiously.

    The remark came when Senior Advocate Dushyant Dave voiced the grievance of the Supreme Court registry "blocking" lawyers so far as the listing of matters is concerned.
    "What I am doing is that I go through all emails which have been received by the court-master from AORs until the previous night. The first thing I do in the morning when I sit at my table is that I look into the emails and 99 out of a 100 times, I indicate that they be listed", told the judge.
    "I see this pattern is working very well because the AOR has to put down in only one para what is the urgency- there are matters like 'my application for bail is pending. Only notice has been issued. Please take it up', or 'you have granted a stay on my reinstatement and my client is 70 years old and retirement dues are held up'...if somebody is taking the trouble of putting down all this and sending an email, it might as well be listed. And it is listed immediately", said Justice Chandrachud.
    "Let all matters be listed before Your Lordships' bench", quipped Mr. Dave.
    "No, no, no, You will get me into trouble...", responded Justice Chandrachud
    "Please make a suggestion to the registry to allow this in all courts", pleaded Mr. Dave.
    "This pattern has come to be followed because My Lord Hon'ble The Chief Justice has laid it down for all courts. That is how it has come", replied the judge.
    "Then Your Lordships may please discuss this on behalf of the bar", prayed Mr. Dave.
    "Yes, yes, certainly", said Justice Chandrachud.
