Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Vipul Pancholi have taken oath as new judges of the Supreme Court. The Apex Court has issued notice to the Union and Bar Council of India on a plea to extend POSH Act protections to women advocates. In another case, the SC asked a petitioner challenging the J&K Government's ban on 25 books to approach the High Court. The Court has also agreed to hear pleas related to Bihar's voter list revision seeking extension of the September 1 deadline. Meanwhile, after strong protests by lawyers, Delhi LG Vinay Kumar Saxena's notification allowing police officers to testify from police stations via video conferencing has been put on hold, with the Union Home Minister set to meet Bar representatives. Separately, the Delhi High Court has directed the trial court to defer hearing on charges against Kapil Mishra over his alleged “communal tweets".
